Destined Living embarked on its journey in November 2009, initially as a ministry before transitioning into a church in August 2018. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Thelma’s identity transformed into that of a church planter. Her previous ministry involvement spanned various areas, including youth, singles, leadership, community, and intercessory prayer.

Upon seeking divine guidance regarding this new calling and identity, Thelma stepped boldly into the realm of church planting. The Holy Spirit directed her to pioneer a new church in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. Thelma diligently trained in the art of healthy and thriving church planting. As a 1.5 immigrant, she intimately understands the challenges of living on the margins and the concerns faced by the immigrant community. Additionally, Thelma grapples with the struggles of being an ethnic church, recognizing the need to move beyond being a one-generational church. Her vision extends to cultivating a culture of multiplication for the next generation of leaders.

Thelma’s personal narrative underwent a profound transformation. Previously burdened by an orphan spirit, she encountered spiritual authorities and ministries operating from the same perspective. However, the Lord intervened, healing her wounded soul and elevating her to the role of a spiritual leader. Raised within the church, yet lacking a deep understanding of the Father’s love, Thelma’s story shifted dramatically. Now walking in the Spirit of Sonship, she passionately shares how the Author and Finisher of her faith rewrote her life’s narrative—a transformation akin to the biblical story of Ruth.

Thelma’s mother, Theresa, played a pivotal role as a shepherding mother. She interceded on behalf of many, birthing purpose and revelation through her prayers. Theresa’s ministry to spiritual leaders creates a sacred space for rest and renewal, drawing from the presence of the Lord. Her unwavering commitment to pursuing God has empowered her daughter, Thelma, to take her stand in Christ Jesus, gaining ground for the Kingdom alongside her mother. Theresa went to be with the Lord in June 2020.
